zero users!

A community for people who build things for themselves.

Not for users. Not for money. Not for work. Just because you want to!

You build things for other people. That's probably your whole job! Maybe you're at a startup, maybe you're running one. Either way, your days are full of roadmaps and user feedback and figuring out what everyone else needs.

And you're good at it! You're ambitious! You actually like building things!

But what about the weird little project in the back of your head? The app that only you would use? The hardware experiment you've always dreamed of? The prototype that does one thing perfectly? The game that only you would ever play?

You keep meaning to work on it. But there's never time, or never energy, or it feels silly to spend your free hours on something nobody else will ever see.

zero users! is a place where that kind of building matters!

This isn't about slowing down or opting out. You can go as hard as you want! This is just a corner where the only person you're building for is you.

What counts as a zero users! project?

Anything you're building for yourself!

If you're making it for you, it belongs here.

What happens here?

Coworking calls roughly every week

Cameras optional, silence totally fine. Just people working on their own stuff in the same room.

Show and tell roughly once a month

Bring whatever you've got finished, half-finished, barely started, completely broken. No pitches. No feedback unless you ask for it.

Casual conversation

People sharing what they're tinkering on. Celebrating small wins. Asking if anyone's ever tried to get a Raspberry Pi to do something cursed.

What this isn't:

No accountability partners. No streaks. No "what did you ship this week?"

You can show up every day or vanish for three months and come back like nothing happened. Both are good!

This is supposed to be the fun kind of building!

FAQ

Who is this for?

Ambitious people who love to build! Founders, startup employees, engineers, designers. People who spend their work lives making things for others, and want a space for the stuff only they care about. A break from building for everyone else, not a break from building.

What if my project makes money?

That's fine! The question isn't whether money exists, it's whether money is the point. Building for yourself and it happens to make money? Great! Building primarily to sell it or grow it? Probably not the right fit.

What if I abandon my project?

Cool! Most projects don't get finished and that doesn't mean they weren't worth starting. You learned something, you scratched an itch, you moved on.

What if I just want to lurk?

Go for it! No participation requirements. Come to calls or don't. Post or don't.

Can I share what I'm working on at my job?

Nope! zero users! is specifically for getting away from work projects. You can talk about your job, complain about it, ask for advice. But the projects here are personal.

Do I have to be good at building things?

No! You don't have to be good, you don't have to finish, you don't have to make something impressive. You just have to want to make something for yourself.

Why is it paid?

Keeps the community intentional. People who pay a little are more likely to actually want to be here. Also, running things costs money!

Can I get a refund?

Yep, just email me if it's not working out.
